Leading Manufacturer of Agricultural Equipment Purchases CADSEEK Mobile September 2017
CADSEEK Mobile, a technology that allows users to identify physical parts using photos smart phones or tablets was successfully piloted at a leading manufacturer of agricultural equipment. The manufacturer had previously used CADSEEK Polaris to identify 'orphaned' inventory at an assembly plant to avoid scrapping perfectly good inventory, and based on that success became a leading advocate for a more efficient method. While crossing the chasm between 2D images and 3D Models was a considerable challenge, iSEEK was able to deliver an application with exceptional accuracy and usability.
Impac Systems Engineering Provides Analytics Services for ABB September 2017
The migration to new systems is daunting, but CADSEEK Analytics dramatically simplifies the challenge. Mark Mosser of Impac Systems chose to recommend CADSEEK Analytics because of its accuracy in not only identifying duplicate parts, but also its ability to accurately score similarity to find functionally duplicate items as well.
As a bonus to finding functional duplication, CADSEEK Analytics reports models that have incomplete geometry, and also assemblies with missing dependencies, dramatically eliminating the human effort that would be required to perform both tasks.
iSEEK Releases CADSEEK Mobile Version 3.0 August 2017
CADSEEK Mobile, a technology that allows users to search CAD model databases using photos from smart phones and tablet computers is in its 3rd release. Major advances in this version include:
-
Platform independence, whereas the prior release was limited to Android devices
-
Functionality to search STL formats. STL functionality provides the ability for Mobile to create a direct path from a photo to a 3D printer, which has significant value for service parts.
iSEEK Introduces Shape ID
ShapeID is a compact shape code that is designed specifically to fit within the small format of Quick Read (QR) codes or embedded technologies such as RFID. The ShapeID code precision in capturing an object's geometry allows it to differentiate even minor differences in shape between objects.
iSEEK Corporation Releases CADSEEK Mobile v 2.1
iSEEK began development of CADseek Mobile, a technology that bridges the gap between the 2D and 3D worlds, in 2011. iSEEK has now released the v2.1 with dramatically improved edge-detection capability. Abir Qamhiyah, iSEEK CEO, explains, "The new technology almost completely eliminates the need to edit photos, allowing users to move from photo to results at much greater speed.
CADseek Mobile is extremely useful on the factory floor to help personnel identify orphaned inventory, and also at the parts counter to identify parts when the model or assembly information is murky or unknown.
iSEEK Corporation Conquers a Big-Data Problem for Engineering Data
iSEEK has utilized its geometric fingerprinting capability for CAD model analytics. Previously, iSEEK's 3D shape search capability was only available to search one part at a time. The analytics capability allows each part in a dataset to be compared to all other parts, or even one dataset against another dataset, which is extremely useful in an acquisition. In a dataset with 10,000 models, an analytics report is the equivalent of 99,990,000 searches. The resulting report shows similarty of each part to all other parts and is extremenly useful for substitution analysis, duplication detection, standardization studies and data cleansing projects.

The Kohler Company Selects CADseek Shape and Attribute Search for Enterprise Deployment
iSEEK Corporation Press Release (June 26, 2014, Ames, Iowa)
The iSEEK Corporation is pleased to announce that the Kohler Company has selected CADseek Polaris as its shape-based search solution for CAD data management.
Kohler, a leading manufacturer of kitchen and bath products, is presently launching an enterprise production implementation of CADseek to complement the suite of software products used by its designers, production engineers and supply chain personnel. CADseek provides a rich graphical user interface that makes it easy to find the right part or assembly for reuse in the current project. Furthermore, CADseek also locates additional important information related to each of the parts, such as material, cost, supplier information and manufacturing documentation.
CADseek is able to handle any of the existing CAD formats and interfaces with all the popular PDM/PLM systems. Parts and assemblies in a specified database are first coded using iSEEK’s patented technology, and the results are classified into families of similar shape for browsing in the CADseek Navigator. Users can search one or more datasets on the basis of shape alone, attributes alone or a combination of the two.

iSEEK Corporation Named Best in Show
Anaheim, CA June 12, 2013
iSEEK Corporation was well represented at the recent PTC Live Global 2013 conference held at the convention center in Anaheim, CA. Abir Qamhiyah and Don Flugrad demonstrated CADseek, the market authority in shape search and Visual Data Management, for many of the 2,000 who attended this year’s event.
They also introduced CADseek Mobile as the newest product based on iSEEK’s unique shape search technology. Photograph a part with a tablet or cell phone and send it to CADseek Mobile to search a CAD database and identify the part with all associated information. This product will be particularly useful for companies that depend on dealers to provide customers with field replacement parts but will also find applications in the consumer market.
Roopinder Tara of TenLinks, the largest online CAD, CAM and CAE news network, stopped by the iSEEK booth to view the demonstration and discuss the new CADseek Mobile product. Of the 60 exhibitors at the conference, he then selected iSEEK Corporation as one of four nominees for “Best in Show” at the event.

Shape-Based Search ins the Key to Design Reuse
August 1, 2012 by Kenneth Wong
It’s easy to forget that the ubiquitous search box that has become such an integral part of how we find and locate information is a fairly recent phenomenon. It’s made possible by search engine providers’ preparatory efforts to scan, classify, and tag the vast body of knowledge we now have at our disposal. Without this service, it would take much more efforts on our end to local what we need, buried somewhere between homegrown recipes to scientific papers on the origin of the universe.

CADSEEK Streamlining CAD File Searches
July, 2006
Ask design engineers what they think about searching for CAD parts data when designing a new product. Or ask manufacturing employers what they think of parts redundancies in their CAD files. Your questions are as likely to be met with groans as with definitive answers.
