Part reuse can save $5,000 to $25,000 each time an existing part is used for a new application, rather than a new design being created and qualified from scratch. Many part designers, however, don't want to take the time to search for an existing reusable design, but rather jump directly into the design process. CADSEEK Adviser accommodates this workflow. In an unobtrusive manner, as the overall design begins taking shape, the Adviser window pops up to show the designer similar existing parts for possible reuse.
Accuracy -- Because CADSEEK considers a designs entire geometry, rather than a parametric value like surface area, CADSEEK is able to begin matching relevant designs just a few minutes into the design process.
Unobtrusiveness -- When the designer commits new geometry CADSEEK Adviser performs a search and displays results in less than 2 seconds. If the designs retrieved are not yet relevant the designer simply clicks on their CAD window to dismiss Adviser. If the designer feels that they are a substantial distance from Adviser retrieving relevant results, or if they are certain that no relevant results exist, the designer can temporarily turn-off Adviser.
Speed to Relevant Results -- Because CADSEEK is not reliant on parameters such as surface area, or the number of surfaces in the model, Adviser begins returning relevant results very quickly.
Ranked Display -- Rather than showing a scrolling ticker of fifty potentially relevant designs, Adviser shows only the top five designs, which is possible because of CADSEEK's accuracy. If none of those five designs are relevant, then displaying any additional designs would only distract the designer and provide no value.
Integration -- When a designer sees a design of interest they can click on the Adviser window to get more information about the design, and with a single click they can open the design in CADSEEK Polaris for inspection and additional search, and then the PLM for export to CAD.
